In 2007 the museum received a grant from the Kansas Humanities Council to preserve and organize the museum’s (paper& photo) collection. All items were examined and evaluated, and items of special interest were copied, bound, and made available for general use. The Wichita Fire Dept. had provided work and storage space for the collection. All photographs have received special care and handling. The collection has been organized and cataloged so items can be easily found. Professional advise has helped guide the museum volunteers with doing the job properly Newspaper articles were carefully removed from old newspapers and placed in protective covers. After processing all materials are indexed and placed in acid free containers.
